Speaking of Taekwondo and the holidays, I can’t believe I forgot to make a post about the UCSDTKD Secret Santa Gift Exchange! It must have been because it was right before finals week, and I pushed the memory of it out of my brain to make room for the functions of the amygdala and frontal cortex for my notorious Cognitive Science class. I wonder what else I forgot in order to learn the auditory pathway…
WELL, the Secret Santa/picture day was definitely different from last year. For starters, the gifts were way more true to the “wish lists,” maybe because we don’t know each other as well or something. I put “wish lists” in quotations however, because the Google-Doc sign up we made was a complete joke, and I had no idea anyone would take them that literally. For example, people got toy “unicorns” and “racecars,” Alyssa got a slice of cheesecake with blueberry syrup to slather all over her face (HAHA it was an inside joke, but it was still funny that someone unknowing actually got it for her) and I asked for “Kenny to stop creeping on my calves,” a wish that I did NOT expect to come true! Thanks Secret Santa Kenny =] The highlight of the night was when Emily, who had asked for something along the lines of a “Tall Dark and Handsome guy to sweep her off her feet,” was completely taken off-guard when Mike Tran stripped off his tkd uniform to reveal a suit underneath, and got down on one knee to present him with a bunch of flowers! And Kristina…she got some version of Mike Kim/Lin, whoEVER she’ll be thinking about during *wink wink* *gag*
